Ayush Noori

Ayush is a high school student at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH, and an intern in the Lagier-Tourenne Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital. Mentored by Dr. Ananya Ray-Soni, he participates in research investigating expansion of hexanucleotide repeat sequences in C9ORF72 as the cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Under the instruction of Dr. Sudeshna Das, Director of the MGH Biomedical Informatics Core (BMIC), he explores differential gene expression across Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body dementia, and ALS/FTD. Ayush previously worked with Dr. Joshua Russell in the Kaeberlein Lab at the University of Washington to examine the role of exosomes in the pathogenesis of a C. elegans neurodegeneration model, and received a next-generation sequencing grant from the Tufts BioSeq Program. He is the founder of the Boston chapter of EduSTEM, an international youth-led organization increasing diversity in STEM fields by providing STEMX education to underprivileged youth. Ayush was a finalist in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
