Ana Rita A. A. Quadros, PhD, Postdoctoral Researcher

Ana Rita is a neuroscience researcher from Portugal, a warm country with great food, wine, and beaches. Her interest for understanding the human body at a molecular level, drove her to take a degree in Biochemistry in the University from Coimbra. Soon her passion grew for understanding the mechanism of the brain, together with a belief this knowledge can impact’s people’s life. So, she left Portugal and joined Neurasmus, an European master in Neuroscience. During this time she met Dr Ruud Toonen, and decided to join his team, at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam to do her PhD. Together they worked on fundamental research, studying the mechanisms of neuronal communication and brain development. She then moved to Boston, together with her husband, where she could pursue her neuroscience passion in Clotilde Lagier- Tourenne lab. There she wants to apply her knowledge of brain mechanisms to study diseases such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Frontotemporal Dementia. During her free time, she knits, practices yoga and explores New England. She loves to go out with friends, travel with her husband, talk to her parents and play with her sister and little brother.
